Once the insulation is on, the next step is almost always closing up. From here every hour counts: anything not photographed now can only be clarified later by opening a wall.

Open joints in the insulation

Condensation or heat loss threatens at uninsulated spots. The insulation is often missing exactly at bends and branches.

Insulation thinner than specified

If a thinner layer is fitted than planned, it cannot be proven once closed in and stays permanently worse in energy terms.

Acoustic bridges from direct contact

If the pipe touches the wall without decoupling, every flow noise is transmitted into the adjoining rooms.

Insulation damaged by following trades

Torn shells appear when other trades work in the same shafts.

What to document and check now in insulated pipes

  1. All insulated runs as an overview

    One photo per wall or shaft so the complete route is visible.

  2. Every joint and bend in detail

    Close-ups wherever the insulation shells meet or the pipe changes direction. Keep the print on the shell (insulation thickness) legible in the picture.

  3. Penetrations and fixings

    Photograph how the pipe passes through the wall and ceiling and whether it lies clear of the component at the clamps.

  4. Ask for the closing date in writing

    Ask the site management by email when closing up will happen. File the reply and photos with the date.
