Interior finishes: the 80/20 walk for the critical spots

Whether several trades are working at once or you find it hard to place the exact stage: do not get lost in technical detail. On your walk, focus on the interior spots that become most expensive once they are covered.

The red list: what to check immediately

Floor build-up before screed

Insulation, edge strips and heating loops disappear with the screed. Document damage or gaps now — later it is no longer possible.

Open walls and services

Drywall open on one side or unplastered connections are the last chance to secure services and insulation in the wall.

Wet room before tiling

Waterproofing, corners and drains must be fully documented before tiling — otherwise there will only be disputes over invisible layers.

Damage by the next trade

Fresh screed, open waterproofing or finished boards damaged by the next trade belong in the record immediately.

What to document today

  1. Prioritise floors, open walls and bathrooms

Check areas first that will be closed, covered or tiled next.

  2. Photograph interfaces between trades

Always photograph transitions like floor/wall or bathroom/hall in overview and detail.

  3. Proceed and document room by room

Check per room: what will be covered here next? Photograph these spots first.

  4. Report anomalies in writing today

Email photos with date and room to site management — before the next work step. Afterwards the state can no longer be proven.

Upload your photos — you immediately see which detail checklist fits your stage.
